I have been a teacher for over ten years and was Deputy Head for five. Mental health problems in children are starting younger and younger and I feel strongly about helping children to regulate how they feel and learn productive reactions in difficult circumstances. I have always been a believer in education and the foundation it provides to a happier and more stable life.
I was introduced to Mindfulness in 2013 and instantly saw the remarkable difference it can make in anyone's life. I started introducing elements of it into my classroom and the children responded with enthusiasm. This encouraged me to make the leap to becoming a full-time practitioner and teacher of mindfulness to children.
I have subsequently trained in three programs: Relax Kids, Paws b and .b. All three are fantastic, distinct courses and teach children mindfulness with a real sense of fun while still keeping the integrity of what is being learnt intact.
My aim is to have all schools teaching Mindfulness in some form or another. Early intervention is the best possible way for children to thrive and reach their potential; it's never too early to build confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
In 2018 I completed the 1 year training to teach mindfulness to adults. This qualifies me to teach the 8 week 'Mindfulness for Life' program which I offer in the Wandsworth Borough.
I have been keen to find a way to provide a course specifically designed for teachers as I understand the nuances and challenges of their environment. My 12 week course is the latest addition to my program of courses which I am delighted to offer.
